As a technical exercise, Subject to Change offers a previously unseen system of storytelling. By combining film, animation, interactivity and constantly updated streamed content, the work hints at new directions for Cinema in the wake of new technologies.

The Subject to Change experience aims to offer its audiences the chance to experience various opinions on pertinent,
contemporary social issues and understand reasons for differing views.

Interactive Experience

The Subject to Change project is a short interactive film that discusses the way in which we as individuals perceive the world. Demonstrated both through the visual content and story, and through the users’ / viewers’ own interaction with the piece, blending cinematic reality with a tactile interactivity to create an Immersive Meta Consciousness Experience.

Live Action Shoot Wrapped!

Thanks to an amazing bunch of crew and actors, a stunning set was constructed for the smoothest shoot overcoming the sudden near disaster we did face. The picture and audio has come out better than we could of hoped for and we’ve already found the best take!

Holy Poop the shoot has happened! And it went so well! Now the real work for Rob and I begins, the new main image on the site today of Jess is the result of my most recent explorations into the aesthetic of the character thought animations. I also have another image of Jack, which will be up asap.

In inspiration news, I’m really digging Reuben Sutherland’s new video for Royksopp and their new single ‘Happy Up Here’, such an amazing amount of work! It’s hitting all the boxes I wanna get in my animation; pixel iconography, rendered photo-real and some happy lense distortions of points of light!

Interaction and other things

After we finished the filming over the last weekend, the project’s production is starting to speed up dramatically! Just a quick note about the shoot is that all of our actors were incredible! So a special thanks to Steve, Donna, Harry and Milla you were all awesome and an extra special thankyou for Donna for stepping in at the last minute since one of our actors pulled out!. We will be giving you guys a massive update about our shoot and developments shortly!

Anyway back to the production, we have alot of things underway at the moment, I know that toby is working on his animation and working on communicating the emotions of the characters. I on the other hand, I’m getting stuck into the design process for the type of interaction that we are going to have with the project as well as the online content that were going to load in.

His Wii Mods for the PC, I plan to make the interaction respond to movements rather than “Clicks” Things are hectic but atleast its not boring!
